Young Musician Spotlight
The fabulous Tru Jones, a vocal phenom from Millikan High School, will be joining our own Liam Williams on the South Park stage to perform lovely, wistful, and energetic show tunes and classics you will recognize. You'll love their duet, "Till There Was You."
Hawaiian Treat
Your new Carroll Park East neighbor, Ces Manapsal, is bringing his fabulous Hawaiian band, Lucky and the Boys, to our event. Lucky and the Boys began as a group of musician friends, all of whom have Asian and Pacific Islander heritage, playing many genres of music. With the approach of summer and the opening up of the community, the group was inspired by the spirit of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, to form a band playing authentic Haawaiian, Country, Polynesian and Pacific Island music. The group is anchored by Lucky Keliiholokai who is from a multi-generational family of musicians from Hawaii.
Tastes and Gulps
As a tasty prelude to our upcoming climate challenge, we're gathering and providing samples of delicious foods that form the bedrock of a plant-based diet. You'll taste a wide variety of foods that supply ample protein and incredible flavor, lest you think that vegan/vegetarian diets lack those qualities.
Culinary Field Trips
Luncheon at Kerstin and Jann's Farm
Meal at Wild Chive on Broadway
Cowspiracy
We're arranging a Sunday morning screening of Cowspiracy at the Art Theatre that all of our neighbors can watch together in person. It is an eye-opening movie about the huge environmental impact of animal agriculture. You'll never be the same again.
